When you need a lift plan
A lift plan is the written plan for a lifting operation on a UK site. The principal contractor, the client, or the crane company will ask for it before the machine works. You do not need to already know the paperwork. If a crane is booked, you need a plan.
I write it. You send the GA, certificates and accessories. £350 per plan, per one machine. Within 24 hours once I have the information, in most cases.
Why a lift plan is required
LOLER and BS 7121 expect a planned lifting operation, with an Appointed Person named on the plan. Site managers who have not raised one before usually meet it when a crane, telehandler or excavator as crane is coming, or when the RAMS pack is checked.
- The crane or other lifting machine is booked and someone asks for the plan.
- The principal contractor will not allow the lift without a written plan and RAMS.
- The hire desk or contract-lift company needs an Appointed Person plan before they attend.
- You already have a plan and need it reviewed before it is used.
Lift plan by machine
One plan is one machine. If a second machine is on the same site, that is a second plan. Cranes, loaders, hoists, Genie lifts, chain blocks, winches and the rest of the lifting kit below.
